Custom, hand crafted furniture
I make hand crafted solid wood furniture and small decorative wooden objects to order at my workshop in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
I believe that the proces of making is as important as the end result. While I do use machines to dimension my wood, all joinery, such as dovetails and mortise & tenon joints are done by hand.
Working with hand tools creates an interaction with the wood that results in furniture that is calming and pleasing to the eye.
Furniture commissions
I make all my furniture to order. If you need a custom built dining table, bookcase, coffee table, or even a custom designed set of coasters, simply get in touch through email or phone to discuss the various options. For examples of previous commissions see my portfolio page (in Dutch). Also see my Instagram feed (in English) for projects I’m currently working on.
After the design has been worked out, I’ll create a final quote detailing the design, materials and delivery date.
Customers are free to drop by during the build and I’ll send pictures of the work as it progresses.
Hand tool restoration
Most of the hand tools I use were found in rusty buckets at flea markets, and restored by myself. My tool restoration service is dedicated to getting old tools to good working order. Many unused old planes and saws can be used for decades to come after proper restoration. The end result equals or surpasses the quality of modern hand tools.
